Actually, a 25-year-old assembly line worker named Robert Nicholas Williams was the first human killed by a robot.

Williams died instantly in 1979 when the robot’s arm slammed him as he was gathering parts in a storage facility, where the robot also retrieved parts.
A jury was appointed to take a look at this matter and jury decided that it was not the robot’s fault. The jury agreed that the lack of safety measures, is the reason behind the death of the young man. But to compensate for Robert’s death, his family was awarded $10 million.
